Frequently asked questions
Everything about the beta, your account, devices and multiplayer in one place. If your question is missing, write to us via the contact details on the Reflex Lab page.
Beta and access
Is RICOCUBE free?
Yes. RICOCUBE is free to play in the browser. There is no download and no in-game purchase. The site is financed by advertising on the content pages, not inside the game.
How does the closed beta work?
Create a free Reflex Lab account and confirm your e-mail address. You are then on the waiting list. We unlock testers in waves and send you an e-mail as soon as your access is active. After that, the Play button takes you straight into the game.
How long will I wait?
It depends on how many people sign up. Waves are small so the online rooms stay stable. Invitation codes from existing testers skip the queue.
What are invitation codes?
Every beta tester receives two codes to invite friends. A friend who registers with your code gets access immediately, so you can play a full three-player room together.
Will my records be reset after the beta?
We plan to keep beta records. If the physics change enough to make old times unfair, we will archive them separately rather than delete them.
Devices and controls
Which devices are supported?
Any computer, tablet or phone with a current browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. A keyboard and mouse give the most precision; touch works well on phones and tablets.
The game runs slowly. What can I do?
Close other heavy tabs, make sure hardware acceleration is enabled in your browser and try the simpler wall types in the settings. The physics split every frame into small sub-steps, so a lower frame rate does not let the ball slip through a paddle – it only looks less smooth.
Can I change the sensitivity?
Yes. Pointer sensitivity is in the settings, together with the control scheme, difficulty, items, music and language.
Is there sound?
Yes – sound effects plus a built-in soundtrack of 30 chiptune tracks in the style of 90s keygen music, with smooth transitions. You can pick a track, change the volume or switch the music off.
Multiplayer
How do I play with friends?
Online: one player creates a room and shares the four-letter code; the others enter it. On one screen: choose versus or co-op and the computer takes the seats nobody controls.
What if only two of us are online?
The third seat is played by the computer at the difficulty level you choose.
Who decides where the ball is?
The host simulates the ball and sends snapshots to the guests. This keeps the physics identical for everyone. A good connection for the host helps.
Account and privacy
Why do I need an account?
The account holds your beta access, your records and settings across devices and your name on the leaderboard. You can sign in with a password or a one-time e-mail link.
What data do you store?
Your e-mail address, the name you choose, your settings, your language and your records. We do not sell data. Details are in the privacy policy.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, at any time on the account page. Your account, records and leaderboard entries are deleted immediately.
In which languages is RICOCUBE available?
English and German – the game, the account pages, the e-mails and this website. The game picks your browser language and you can switch it in the settings.
About the game
Who makes RICOCUBE?
Reflex Lab, a small independent studio from Switzerland that also makes 4wallpong and High Noon Duell.
How is it related to 4wallpong?
4wallpong is Pong with four walls on a flat board. RICOCUBE takes the same idea into a cube with six walls, real 3D physics, items and three-player multiplayer.
Can I suggest features?
Please do. Beta testers shape the game – feedback about controls, items and difficulty is exactly what the beta is for.
